Queen Mary is one of the largest colleges of the world renowned University of London, with are over 15,000 students, about 15 per cent of whom are from overseas, contributing to a truly cosmopolitan environment that is extremely welcoming to students from all over the world.
Queen Mary has a fully integrated teaching, research and residential campus in the east end of London. Our unique setting gives you the benefits of a large campus environment as well as access to the countless academic and social opportunities of London - one of the great world cities!
Students are offered accommodation on campus – highly unusual for a university located in central London. The Mile End campus is a peaceful, secure and friendly environment only a few yards from the bustle of Mile End Road and the East End of London, with a host of facilities together on one site: cafés, bars and restaurants, the Students' Union, canal-side accommodation in our Student Village, bank and bookshop. We are very well served by public transport with two tube stations a short walk from campus.
The East End is one of the most vibrant, exciting and culturally diverse areas of London. There is something for everyone: street markets, parks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, museums and galleries. Brick Lane, which is in walking distance from the campus, is famous for its eclectic market, Indian restaurants, 24 hour bagel shops and is also now home to a growing number of artists and designers. It may not be the most famous area of the city, but it is certainly worth getting to know.
Queen Mary is also very close to the site of the 2012 Olympic Games with the main stadium being less than 1 mile from campus. The 2012 Olympics will take place in a host of new venues in the local area and the area is being transformed in preparation. Many of the new facilities will be reused and the plans are part of the regeneration of the east end of London.
